Self-publishing looks simple from the outside: upload a file, pick a price, hit publish. Anyone who has actually done it knows better. KDP and B&N Press are powerful—and unforgiving. One wrong setting, one bad interior file, or one cover that doesn’t meet spec, and the book stalls or looks amateur.
